During its second edition, SMART DOORS will be presenting a comprehensive offer, from the 25 to 28 February, bringing together most of the Spanish market, along with companies from Italy and Portugal.

Among some of the proposals shown at SMART DOORS are important developments regarding access automation and control, with the addition of laser-based safety devices; electric motors that are increasingly quieter and easier to install; doors that offer increasing value in thermal and acoustic insulation; an invisible firewall curtain that prevents fire from spreading; an electric door opening system through smartphone, without requiring a connection to wifi or internet; smart locks and, as for sustainability, paint for doors that is 100% recycled.

Technical conferences

This commercial offer will be complemented by a programme of Technical Conferences where, among other issues, we will see the presentation of the Report by the Ministry of Industry on CE Marking of commercial, industrial and garage doors; the Inspection plans for 2020 and the result of the 2019 plans, and the unique certification system for door installer and maintenance companies, by AENOR. Additionally, industry issues of great interest and relevance will be discussed, such as maintenance for commercial, industrial and garage doors, and access to new Firewall Door markets.

According to the National Federation of Manufacturers, Installers and Maintenance Companies for doors and automated devices, FIMPA, the industrial, commercial and garage door sector is still quite fragmented in all of its activity types. It is comprised of close to 9,000 companies, mainly smes and micro-smes, of which approximately 10% continue manufacturing with automated and daily industrial processes, and the remainder manufacture by artisan methods and occasionally. The number of installers, door automated device installers and maintenance companies is at around 5,000. The sector has continued growing in the last two years, but in spurts, with important sawtooth waves, removing itself from the typical seasonality. The rise of services companies is to be noted, related to rehabilitation and maintenance, which has maintained a growth trend higher than new builds. It is estimated that the sector turnover in 2019 was €900 million.
