How can we turn school into a place that promotes critical and creative thinking in children and young people? Why should artificial intelligence and programming be an important part of the classroom? How can magic be used in class to motivate and guide learning? In addition to learning about these and other trends in educational innovation, the attendees at SIMO EDUCACIÓN will enjoy first-hand immersion breakout experiences (escape room) and they will be trained in robotics, emotional education and active methodologies in the three rooms where the practical workshops will be offered.

The Trade Fair, organised by IFEMA in collaboration with Educación 3.0, will be held from the 13th to the 15th November in Hall 14.1 of Feria de Madrid.

As every year, SIMO EDUCACIÓN, the benchmark fair on innovation in education, will offer a full program of conferences, presentations and workshops, with the new teaching and technological trends as the main features. Artificial intelligence, neuroeducation, breakouts in education, the importance of awakening critical and creative thinking or philosophy in the classrooms, all open an innovative horizon for education, which will be the focus of analysis and discussion in this edition, organised by IFEMA, in collaboration with Educación 3.0, to be held from the 13th to the 15th of November in Hall 14.1 of the Feria de Madrid.

The attendees at SIMO EDUCACIÓN will also enjoy first-hand immersion experiences (escape room) and they will be trained in robotics, emotional education and active methodologies in the three rooms where the practical workshops will be offered.

Highlighted conferences
This year the Auditorium will host Melina Furman, PhD in Education of the University of Columbia (USA) and Argentinian researcher, who will delve into how love for learning and for thinking can be awakened at school and at home. There will be artificial intelligence, presented by Francisco Vico, professor of the University of Malaga and AI teacher, with the conference “Reading, writing, programming: how children will master artificial intelligence” ( Leer, escribir, programar: cómo los pequeños dominarán la inteligencia artificial).

The Auditorium will also become an escape room, thanks to Christian Negre, teacher at the Escola Pia de Calella (Barcelona), who will mobilise the attendees to experience this trend that is the latest rage in classrooms. Other conferences confirmed for this edition are by Joan Domenech, teacher and author of the book “Praise for slow learning” (Elogio de la Educación Lenta); Anna Forés, neuroeducation specialist; Jordi Adell, teacher with the Education department of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón; or Salvador Rodríguez Ojaos, educator and advisor in educational innovation.

SIMO EDUCATION INSPIRES
One of the main new features of this edition will be SIMO EDUCATION INSPIRES, a two-hour event where renowned experts will offer short inspirational and motivational talks, approximately 20 minutes each. Among these, María Acaso, art and education researcher; Melina Furman, Argentinian researcher; Xuxo Ruiz, teacher and magician; and Manu Velasco, primary education teacher.

Practical workshops
Teachers can also train in the most innovative education methodologies, such as different types of gamification (escape room, breakout, video games...), cooperative work, the role of music and art in learning, emotional education, computational thought, robotics, virtual reality, 3D printing, etc. As in previous editions, the workshops will have a very useful and practical focus and will offer INTEF-certified training.

SIMO EDUCATION MAKERS
The fair will once again offer the MAKERS area, which was widely acclaimed in the last edition, bringing together the innovative initiatives that are being implemented in education centres throughout Spain. Another new feature is the commitment by SIMO EDUCACIÓN 2018 to Vocational Training, by creating an area focused on experiences and conferences on this important section of formal education.

Teaching experiences
The SIMO EDUCACIÓN jury is already assessing the almost 350 teaching experiences that were submitted this year. Again, those selected will share their teaching experience with the attendees, by giving a 20-minute presentation. The initiatives based on gamification, robotics, computational thinking, project-based learning, inclusive education, special education needs, the flipped classroom, the world maker and others will be the main features.

The chosen works will also be candidates to the 6th Edition of the Awards for Educational Innovation, which especially acknowledges the work of those teachers who contribute to transforming education.
