SICUR RESILIENCIA hosted the I PESI "Women and Innovation in Security" Awards

The awards ceremony was held after the PESI assembly, in the framework of the International Security Trade Fair, SICUR, organised by IFEMA MADRID

The awards recognise the achievements of women in on the institutional, association, technical, and international level, plus a Special Prize for Professional Achievement

SICUR, the International Security Trade Fair organised by IFEMA MADRID on February 22-25, hosted the ceremony of the I PESI "Women and Innovation in Security" Awards, in the framework of their space SICUR RESILIENCIA.  The awards ceremony was held following the PESI assembly (Plataforma Tecnológica Española de Seguridad Industrial) at an act presided over by Marian Ferre from the State Research Agency (AEI) of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and José Manuel Prieto, Assistant General Manager of Quality and Industrial Security at the Directorate General of Industry and Small and Medium Businesses (of the MINCOTUR).

The President and members of the PESI steering committee presented the awards at this first edition, celebrated in the context of the activities at the space SICUR RESILIENCIA, organised in collaboration with PESO (Congress S2R and Assembly) on Thursday, February 24. Of the 12 women awarded, four belong to the institutional area, one to the associational, six to technical categories, and one to the international area. In addition, a Special Prize for Professional Achievement was awarded.

The winners

In the institutional category, the prize winners were Maite Boyero, from CDTI (Centre for Industrial Technological Development); Rosa Díaz Moles, from INCIBE (National Cybersecurity Institute); María Ángeles Ferre González, from AEI (State Research Centre, of the Ministry of Science and Innovation); and María Jesús Otero Aparicio, of the INSST (National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety). In the Associations category, Benilde Serrano Saiz, from the SESST-SCMST (Sociedad Española de Salud y Seguridad en el Trabajo and Sociedad Castellana de Medicina y Seguridad del Trabajo).

In the Professional area there were four categories. The prize for Preventive Culture was awarded to Elena Sanjoaquín Benavente, of the Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón ITAINNOVA; el de Salud Laboral a Inés García Alcázar, of Adif-RENFE; the prize for Safety went to Mª Jesús Ibáñez García, of the ITC (Instituto de Tecnología Cerámica de la Universidad Jaume I); the prize for Security to Ana Borredá, from the Fundación Borredá; and the Cybersecurity award went to Ana Ayerbe Fernández-Cuesta, of Tecnalia; and for R&D, to Pepa Sedó Sanromà, of Eurecat. The International Prize was awarded to Maria Luisa Rodríguez Montalvo, from Workgate, Italy. In addition, a Special Prize for Professional Achievement was awarded to Mari Carmen Vicente Vicente, of the AEI (State Research Centre of the MICINN).

Selection criteria

The selection criteria in this first edition of the PESI Awards for "Women and Innovation in Security" were established on the basis of 6 categories of professional achievement and experience in the business world: Preventive Culture and PRL, Occupational Health and Welfare, Industrial Security (Safety 4.0 and Digitalization), Corporate Security, Cybersecurity, and Research.

The Awards Committee, made up of all the members of the Board and Work Group and Subgroup coordinators, and the Members of the Advisory Committee (24 people), proposed all the women they considered had noteworthy professional achievement in relation to Security in its many facets, with special consideration for innovative contributions and their collaboration on different PESI activities in recent years. Of the group initially proposed, 30 women were short-listed, and a vote was made for the 12 most outstanding.
