IFEMA MADRID is organising the Trade Fair to be held in its Exhibition Halls from the 20 to 23 April 2022

After the Organising Committee of MOTORTEC MADRID was formed, the next edition of the Trade Fair was presented on the 13 July, organised by IFEMA MADRID to be held at its Exhibition Halls from the 20 to 23 April 2022.

The presentation was led by the Director of IFEMA Motor & Mobility, David Moneo, with participation by the heads of the main sector associations that are backing the event, Benito Tesier, President of the Spare Parts Commission of SERNAUTO; José Luis Bravo, President of ANCERA; Ana Ávila, General Secretary of CETRAA, and Nuria Álvarez, Institutional Relations and Communication with CONEPA. The associations have renewed their backing of the event, with their presence on the Organising Committee, which is chaired by the head of SERNAUTO. This organisation also comprises the leading industry companies.

David Moneo, Director of IFEMA Motor & Mobility, pointed out during this speech that the main challenge facing the aftermarket sector is digitalisation. A challenge that was discussed during the last edition of the Fair, in 2019, and which will be very present in the coming edition.

MOTORTEC MADRID will be held in June 2022 along with the rest of IFEMA MADRID events pertaining to the automotive world, proving IFEMA’s commitment to this major industry. In addition to the in-person format, it will also be held digitally, thanks to the new LIVE CONNECT platform, that will allow the largest aftermarket Fair of Southern Europe to provide visibility for the sector 365 days a year, enabling participating companies to obtain the most return from their investment, as exhibitors will have various participation models, adapted to their needs, while at the same time increasing even more their international presence.

Moneo pointed out that relations with the Portuguese market will be promoted, renewing the traditional collaboration with the main business associations, the Portuguese National Association of Automotive sales and Repairs, ANECRA, and the Automotive Association of Portugal, ACAP, and with presence in various events in Portugal, such as Expo Mecánica.

Within the context of recovery for this important segment of the Spanish economy, MOTORTEC MADRID 2022 will seek to exceed the figures from the last event, with over 60,000 trade visitors, 40,000 m2 of exhibition and over 20,000 workshops.

The Trade Fair will be distributed between halls 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 of the IFEMA MADRID Exhibition Centre, following the various sectors such as industrial vehicles, tires, service stations and car washes, electric vehicle charging, garage, body work and paint, MOTs...

. Sectoral support

There will also be an intense schedule of activities and professional and training conferences, with the backing and support from the associations and other sectoral agents.

SERNAUTO will again be involved in this work, as it represents the automotive supplier industry that comprises over 1,000 companies, who generate in Spain over 340,000 direct and indirect jobs, reaching over 170 countries and responsible for 75% of the end value of the vehicle. Its President, Benito Tesier, was moderately optimist for this year, encouraged by the strength of the industry and its capability for innovation. “We are talking about a sector, the automotive sector, that represents 10% of the GDP.

Our sector, automotive suppliers, had a turnover of €30,200 million in 2020. This figure was 15.7% lower than in 2019, but the impact of the crisis was not so bad thanks to the degree of internationalisation of our companies”.

Tesier proposes continuing to promote the automotive industry, for which MOTORTEC MADRID is a privileged showcase, and its technological and innovation capabilities, providing the end product with a fundamental added value.

The heads of the other associations participating in MOTORTEC MADRID 2022, ANCERA, CONEPA and CETRAA, agree with this analysis.

For José Luis Bravo, President of ANCERA, MOTORTEC MADRID is the best setting to help in the reactivation of a sector that is characterised by its competitiveness, and the ideal commercial showcase to publicise the innovative capability of the automotive aftermarket industry.

Nuria Álvarez, Institutional Relations and Communication with CONEPA, pointed out the challenge entailed by digital transformation that garages are facing -“that will be evolutionary, not disruptive”, in her words-. To face this challenge, where work has already begun, she called for the joint effort from all agents involved.

Ana Ávila, General Secretary of CETRAA, ended by renewing her association's commitment to MOTORTEC MADRID 2022, an essential event for the aftermarket industry.
