EUROCARNE brings one more edition of the MeaTIC Conference to Meat Attraction

• They will be held on 9 and 10 March and are organised by Meat Attraction, Meat2030 and EUROCARNE

• They will address the environmental improvement of meat production, as well as the digitisation of industries

Within the framework of Meat Attraction, the meat sector fair organised by IFEMA and ANICE (from 8 to 10 March in Pavilion 4 of the IFEMA -Madrid- exhibition centre), the second edition of the MeaTIC conference will take place, promoted by Meat Attraction and EUROCARNE, where the latest developments in sustainability, digitalisation and automation will be addressed.

On 9 March, between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm, the first of these meetings will take place at the Foro Meat Attraction (Pavilion 4, 4A28), where issues related to sustainability and environmental improvement in the meat industry will be discussed under the title "Environmental challenges in the meat industry". This first day will be led by Óscar Delgado, strategic communications consultant at the Instituto Mediterráneo para el Desarrollo Sostenible (IMEDES)and MEAT2030.

Nicolás Fernández, a specialist in circular economy at Ecoembes, will be taking part and will be explaining the changes that will take place because of the future implementation of the Packaging and Waste Law, which is still being drafted. Fernández will highlight the legislative aspects that will most affect the day-to-day work of the meat industry.

Jaime Pire, an advertising creative specialising in food, will explain the strategies that can be followed to make society aware of the work that companies are carrying out in terms of sustainability.

It is also planned to address the energy saving measures that companies can implement (biogas, photovoltaic, aerogeneration...). To this end, Carlos Gallego, head of Business Development at Norvento, will explain how they have implemented such measures.

Digitisation and automation

The second day of the MeaTIC conference will take place on 10 March under the title "Towards a more digital meat industry". Between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm, in the Meat Attraction Forum, some examples of how digitalisation and automation can help to improve aspects of the day-to-day life of meat companies such as food safety, quality, productivity and cost savings will be discussed.

Pelayo González, from ASINCAR, will give attendees an overview of Industry 4.0, its adaptation to meat companies and, above all, explain how to implement it in the case of SMEs, the majority in the sector.

Álvaro Santos, IT Director of Sigma in Europe, will explain the process followed by Navidul for the implementation of blockchain technology in its production of cured ham and shoulder ham.

Stefan Zilken, CEO of CSB-System Spain, will show an example of automation in meat industries through the CSB Jamboflash, a new development for the classification of fresh hams using artificial intelligence and state-of-the-art image analysis.

Alberto Berga, from AMB Consultants, will show the digital tools that are currently available to better understand purchasing trends based on consumer perceptions and the management of big data.
