• The Mercedes-Benz runway in Hall 14.1 of IFEMA MADRID was the stage chosen for the presentation of the 75th edition of MBFWMadrid • At this event, in which 100% of the capacity returns, the grand runway will bring together, between an ON and OFF format, 44 designers, and will be held between March 9 and 13 in Hall 14.1 of IFEMA MADRID and other venues in the city

Nine days remain until the start of the long-awaited 75th edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. This event, organized by IFEMA MADRID, with the support of the Madrid City Council, will take place between March 9 and 13 in Hall 14.1 of the Fairgrounds as the main stage, in addition to the carrying out of runway shows in different locations of the capital.

An excellent calendar of runway shows

A total of 44 designers make up the calendar of this next edition, with 22 established creators, 10 young talents who are participating in the Allianz EGO runway show and 12 designers who are part of the OFF program with runway shows in different spaces in Madrid.

This is how this commemorative edition of the 75th edition of MBFWMadrid was presented this morning on the stage of the Mercedes-Benz fashion show hall, in Hall 14.1 of IFEMA MADRID. The event, hosted by fashion journalist Jesús María Montes-Fernández, was attended by Begoña Villacís, Deputy Mayor of Madrid; Eduardo López-Puertas, general director of IFEMA MADRID; and Modesto Lomba, president of ACME, who acted as institutional spokespersons in the first part of the event. This was followed by the premiere of a video sequence produced for the 75th edition of MBFWMadrid, which will be presented in its entirety on the runway. This was followed by a dialogue between three designers belonging to different generations and contexts that have witnessed the runway over the years. Thus there was a presentation of the visions and experiences of Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, a designer who has participated in the Runway since September 1985; Domingo Rodríguez, creative director of Dominnico and winner of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent Award in July 2019 and participant in the grand runway for several editions; and Jorge Redondo, creative director of Redondo Brand, a firm debuting in MBFWMadrid in this edition.

Likewise, this official presentation has put the focus on the new edition of MBFWMadrid, which promises to be very special. Big names in national fashion have returned compared to the last edition, such as Pedro del Hierro, Angel Schlesser, Dominnico, Roberto Diz, Pertegaz, Jorge Vázquez and Brain & Beast along with the names that already paraded in the last editions. In addition, three great stars are added to the exquisite calendar of this edition: YnésSuelves, Fely Campo and Redondo Brand. The entire calendar of runway shows is available at the following link.

Internationalization

In addition to the return of well-known Spanish fashion designers to the official calendar of this event, the programs consisting of international guests, both press and buyers, are back. 16 international journalists from Portugal, UK, Germany, Italy, Mexico and Panama will cover the Runway for leading newspapers in their respective countries. This list of journalists will be joined by buyers from France (Lafayette), Italy (La Rinascente), Mexico (Liverpool), and multi-brand stores from Portugal, Germany and Panama, who will attend the event to see the collections of the designers making up the calendar. This buyers' program has gone ahead thanks, in large part, to the collaboration with ICEX and the reverse trade mission carried out.

Similarly, in a move towards the internationalization of the Runway, this time HOLA TV will be the official international media, and will also have a TV set in the Cibelespacio, and a full program hosted by the Spanish presenter based in Miami, Lucia Riaño.

As a final touch to the 75th edition, the international character of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent Award, which recognizes emerging talent, returns the exchange with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Prague this year. The designer María Clè Leal, winner of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent in February 2015, will exclusively present her textile project "Latxa". This is a 100% sustainable collection composed of warm garments and accessories made from a fabric of her own creation, which uses surplus wool from her native land.

In this same line of work, and for the second consecutive edition, we maintain the exchange relationship with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin to make our designers known among their community, including the broadcasting of an unpublished video of MBFWMadrid created for the occasion.

Awards

MBFWMadrid is an ideal framework for the recognition of the effort, creativity and staging of certain figures in the fashion industry. For this reason, the L'Oréal Paris Award for Best Collection and Best Model will be presented on Saturday, March 12 at 8:30 p.m. in the Mercedes-Benz Room.

The Allianz EGO Confidence in Fashion Award Ceremony will take place on Sunday 13 at 11:30 a.m., prior to the start of the fashion shows on the same Runway. This award, which is open to 15 emerging designers, will again have a cash prize of €6,000 and will allow the winner to receive professional advice for six months to promote their brand and present at the next edition of Allianz EGO. Alejandro Gómez Palomo, from Palomo Spain, will be part of the jury for this edition. After the award ceremony, the winner of the first edition, Rubearth, will walk the runway. The runway will grant visibility to women's football and the integration of people with functional diversity along with two former LaLiga players and two LaLiga Genuine Santander players.

To end the day on Sunday, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent Award will be presented to the best designer of the day at Allianz EGO after the last fashion show.

RTVE as the media partner of the 75th edition of MBFWMadrid

This edition will count on the alliance of RTVE as media partner of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, which will enrich the broadcasting of the contents of the Runway and will offer extensive coverage, in addition to the organization of various activities within the framework of the Runway.

Strong private sector support for fashion

This 75th edition has the support, through the sponsorship of different areas and activities, of a total of 18 prestigious brands that will participate in this edition, strongly boosting the presentation of the 75th edition of MBFWMadrid. Mercedes-Benz, L'Oréal Paris and Inditex will once again be the main sponsors; Allianz, Iberia, Royal Bliss and Mó de Multiópticas will be sponsors; and Klarna, IED Madrid, GHD, BLESS Collection Hotels, Dejavu Brands, Rowenta, Mar de Frades, ESNE Escuela Universitaria, Flabelus, Karma Design and Comunidad de Madrid will be the collaborating brands for this next edition.
