About Jorge Vázquez
After a brief experience at the age of 18 in the Inditex group (Zara), he began his design studies in Madrid and then in the USA. At the age of 23 he won the first prize in the "IV Mostra de Novos Creadores de Moda" awarded by the Xunta de Galicia. Later, from 1995 to 1998, he collaborated in the Design Department of the Galician firm Antonio Pernas. Later he moved to Madrid to join the creative team of the firm Ángel Schlesser.
In the Fecón group he worked as coordinator of the design department in charge of its collections. Later he moved into the world of accessories with the company Fun & Basics, and at the same time launched his own women's ready-to-wear collection. In February 2002 Jorge Vázquez presented his first collection under his own name at Pasarela Cibeles.
His sixth fashion show, in which he showed his spring-summer 2005 collection for women and men, was awarded the L'OREAL prize for the best collection and best young designer. At the same time, since 2004, Jorge Vázquez has combined the presentation of his collections at Cibeles with a collaboration with the INDUYCO group, being the creative head of the event and party collections for the SÍNTESIS brand. In 2006 he collaborated with LOEWE to design the women's ready-to-wear collection. In 2009 he launches her first collection of the 'JV Petit Couture' line for communion for girls.
In 2014 he joined the team of another great Spanish textile company, El Corte Ingles, as coordinator and supervisor of the group's women's brands. Later in 2016 Jorge Vázquez returns to the MBFWM catwalk after 10 years, presenting his JV by Jorge Vázquez Autumn-Winter 2016/17 collection, which was awarded the L'Oreal prize for the best collection.
Currently, he continues with his project under the brand JV by Jorge Vázquez and his Haute Couture line, and since January 2020 he has been creative director of the legendary house Pertegaz.
Collection Lines
Jorge Vázquez's spring/summer 2024 collection presents a remarkable retro inspiration through a personal reinterpretation of the 60s. The universe that the Galician designer creates for the upcoming season mixes blend straight-line dresses with fluid garments such as caftans or pareo skirts. The summer blow provided by fabrics like raffia or different types of linen contrast with the sophisticated organzas, tulle, gazar or muslin. Geometric and tropical prints feature a collection highlighted by ethnic embroideries in beadings and sequins. The color palette is marked by a range of light tones such as soft pink, baby blue or violet, contrasting with the intensity of burgundy, green or multicolor combinations.
