Madrid, 19 September 2018.- Madrid Games Week 2018 will have a special exhibition area for developers, an initiative from IFEMA and the Spanish Video Games Association (AEVI) to promote the industry in Spain. It will also have the collaboration of Fun & Serious Game Festival—a leading indie event in Bilbao, which could not be missing from this big annual video games event, which will be held from 18-21 Octoberat Feria de Madrid.

The Developers Area will gather all those interested in promoting Spanish development in a unique format and under a quality brand.  Indie studios, investors and publishers, training companies, etc. will form one of the most interesting spaces for the sector aimed at generating synergies and networking.

Located in the space that connects Halls 12 and 14, the Developers Area will offer various alternatives for all those who make video games their profession to take part either with a traditional stand format, or in a chill out area made up of islands where, armed only with their computer, small developers will also have the chance to publicise their work.

The Developers Area will be completed with a zone for company participation and a networking spacewhere meet-to-match meetings will be held with national and international investors and publishers.  Arturo Monedero, vice president of Development of AEVI, celebrated the strong presence of local studios in the exhibition area, as well as the planned important business meetings with investors and international publishers: “Spanish development is booming at all scales of production but there is still work to be done. There is a huge base of creators, but there are no instruments to help them grow. Before going out to offer our titles to the world, we should achieve national recognition and Madrid Games Week is a formidable platform for this.”

There will also be a training area for schools and universities with courses specialised in video game and program creation, as well as all information to help attendees choose the best option to study in this field. The Developers Forum will offer a programme of talks and workshops focused on the creative process (design, narrative, concept artist, music …) and give advice and recommendations.
