IFEMA MADRID launches Madrid Cómic Pop Up, the leading Comic Fair in the capital
From 4 to 6 December, and coinciding with JUVENALIA, the Exhibition Centre will host the first representative event for the comics sector with its own organisation, which will bring together different companies and national artists from the world of comics
This innovative fair confirms IFEMA MADRID's growing commitment to new lines of business aimed at other sectors, which adds to the portfolio of its major events
IFEMA MADRID is organising a new event dedicated to the world of Comics. The first Madrid Cómic Pop Up, the capital's Comic Fair, will be held in December, aiming to become a benchmark event for lovers of the world of comics. It is part of a commitment to strengthening the range of culture and leisure events for the general public, which IFEMA MADRID has been developing for years, with major national benchmark events for its respective sectors.
The first Comic Fair to be organised by IFEMA MADRID is conceived with a recreational and cultural mindset, to connect in a friendly and natural way with the extraordinary group of internationally renowned talents in comic art, and to position Madrid on the circuit of major comic events with an essential and representative event in a sector that has awakened a growing interest from institutions over recent years. And not only for its contribution as a recreational element for the city, but also for it to be integrated as an educational tool into children's education programmes.
The world of comics will come together in a single hall at the Exhibition Centre, with the participation of large and small companies from the comics sector, manga, illustrators, publishers, comics stores, cultural institutes, Artist Alley, guest authors, etc., and will feature activities and workshops for all ages, in parallel to the exhibition, which will take place in the different areas into which Madrid Cómic Pop Up is divided, such as video games, retro, etc.
Madrid Cómic Pop Up will also feature the presence of Sectorial del Cómic, a collective made up of representatives from all areas of the sector to promote the popularisation, improvement and growth of the Ninth Art; as well as collaboration with the Spanish Pop Culture Association, which will carry out activities for the public and guests, bringing even more colour to this great gathering of lovers and friends of the Ninth Art.
Over the last few months, IFEMA MADRID has made a great effort to guarantee that on-site events are held safely, complying with all the safety measures required by the health authorities, such as restricting capacity, organising the flow of people, widening corridors and passageways to avoid crowds, continuous and filtered air ventilation in halls, live capacity control, mandatory use of masks and hand hygiene, etc. You can consult all the protocols here.
