FITUR Cruises: Great Success and Enthusiastic Reception
FITUR’s new special-interest cruise tourism section beats forecasts, confirming why cruises are one of the fastest-growing tourism sectors.
Building on this first step, FITUR will work on a B2B approach to the section to attract the business cruise sector.
FITUR Cruises has achieved strong results at this first edition and an enthusiastic reception from visitors, consolidating the cruise sector as part of the International Tourism Fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID.
On Saturday, 22nd January, the Fair’s first day open to the general public, FITUR Cruises staged numerous events to present the cruise experience to visitors.
The day began with the First Cruise Scavenger Hunt, where eighty registered teams searched the halls, port stands and cruise ship ports of call for clues and puzzles. The prize for successfully completing the challenge was to participate in a draw for four cruises and shore excursion vouchers.
During the day, there was a special broadcast of the “Cruise News” LIVE programme, with a review of cruise industry news of interest to travellers. Emerald Spanic put on a typical cruise stage show on the FITUR stage.
To round off the event, there was a raffle for cruises provided by Royal Caribbean, Costa Cruises, MSC Cruises, and Celestyal Cruises, and excursions provided by the tour operator Shore2Shore.
The ports of Andalusia, through their association, Suncruise Andalucía, sponsored the party and gave away souvenir T-shirts to attendees.
This new cruise section at FITUR was promoted by Cruceroadicto.com, the most widely read online cruises magazine in Spanish.
Following the success of this first initiative in the cruise segment, FITUR’s organisers will be working to boost the section’s B2B coverage aimed at cruise sector business alongside activities for the general public.
