UNIBIKE

UNIBIKE has been for four editions the International Bicycle Fair, a meeting that brought together professionals and enthusiasts of this world in IFEMA MADRID. The last edition of this event took place between the 21st and 24th of September 2017 under the organization of IFEMA MADRID and the Asociación de Marcas y Bicicletas de España (AMBE).

During the event, the offer of more than 500 brands in the bicycle sector was presented to professionals and the general public. Pavilions 12 and 14 at Feria de Madrid were the space chosen to host this industry's annual event: 30,000 square metres where over 200 companies were able to showcase the new models of bicycles and all the novelties and complements that were the trend in subsequent seasons.

Resounding success

UNIBIKE 2017 received a total of 46,129 people, 5% more than the previous year. The International Bicycle Fair closed its doors with a very positive balance and a growth in professional visitors of 6%, reaching a total of 7,756 people, with a significant increase in foreigners who increased by more than 17%, and nearly 6% in the case of nationals.

Activities offer

The success of this great cycling event was due to the fact that in 2017 it presented a greater range of content. Among them, the bicycle race was enhanced thanks to the incorporation of the new Paddock Zone which, with more than 2,000 square meters outside Pavilion 2, offered visitors the opportunity to try out the products during the four days of the fair.

These product tests became the great protagonists of the meeting with an excellent offer of electric, urban, fatbikes, children's, Mtb and road bikes of different brands such as ORBEA, BH, CANYON, BERRIA BIKE, MMR or CUBE.

In addition, the bikers were able to enjoy the Demo Test Circuit on an adjacent piece of land with more than 40 hectares where a 4 kilometre route was marked out, with unevenness on the surface. In addition, Paddock had a shower service, bike washing area and an Energy space for rest and refreshment for the participants.

Other activities for all ages were added to this novelty, such as electric and urban bicycle circuits, children's and road safety circuits; Demo Fatbike; Bike Trial exhibitions; Looping Bike; or Pump Track, among others. Similarly, on Sunday 24 September, the 15th Community of Madrid Cycle Tourism March was held, with the participation of more than 407 people.

In total, 5,136 people did not want to miss the opportunity to try the latest products from the world of cycling in all the programmed activities.

Likewise, together with the leading brands in the design and manufacture of bicycles, UNIBIKE also made available to visitors the latest in cycling accessories and material in the Shopping Zone, which is sold directly and at exclusive prices.

Added value

In addition to becoming the stage for the world launch of different ranges of bicycles from the main brands, UNIBIKE gave the public the opportunity to see the biketrial exhibitions by the European Champion, Javi Alonso, to enjoy the presence of Federico Martín Bahamontes and to admire the bicycle with which he won the Tour de France in 1959; to meet the double winner of the Giro d'Italia -2002 and 2005- Paolo Savoldelli, or Victor de la Puerta and Rubén Fernández, riders from the Movistar team, and Pablo Lastras, sports director of the Movistar team.

PROMOTION OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM
For the third year, UNIBIKE provided a platform to contribute to the development of bicycle tourism and to highlight the great potential that Spain has in this field. An initiative that became another attraction for visitors, who were able to discover the most attractive routes in our country.

The activities in this space were complemented by a workshop, or contracting table, in which the exhibitors could meet with tour operators from different countries such as Germany; Denmark; Sweden; Switzerland; Norway and Finland, who came especially to UNIBIKE thanks to the collaboration of Turespaña and the Tourism Board of the Tarragona Provincial Council.
