On 17 March, the doors closed on the extensive array of dental equipment, products and services on offer at Pavilions 3, 5 and 7 of Feria de Madrid, at the end of EXPODENTAL - a record-breaking event in terms of participation, presentation and professional attendance.
Over three days, the trade fair - organised by IFEMA and promoted by the Spanish Federation of Health Technology Companies, Fenin - brought together the products and services of 358 exhibitors (up 8.6 por ciento from 2016), 412 represented companies and 1,458 brands. Standing out for its innovative and spectacular staging and in step with the dental industry’s development and future trends, it offered a ground-breaking platform where digitalisation and technological advances were the stars of the show.
EXPODENTAL also exceeded all expectations with regard to professional participation, with 31,144 professionals in attendance, representing an increase of 2.6 por ciento. Added to this was the widespread scope of the exhibitors, both at national and international level.
In this regard, it was noteworthy that EXPODENTAL received visitors from all of Spain’s autonomous regions as well as from abroad. In fact, 60 por ciento of professional attendees were from outside Madrid, with most coming from Andalusia, Catalonia - with an increase of 6.5 por ciento this year - and Valencia, in that order. Another outstanding feature was the visit from the Canary Islands, this year’s guest region, which attracted more than 1,000 professionals.
In the international arena, EXPODENTAL’s attendance figures show 2,200 professionals from 73 countries. The countries with the highest number of attendees were Portugal, along with Italy, with an increase of more than 19 por ciento, and France, with an increase of 4.6 por ciento.
By segment, the most represented professional profile was dentists, who accounted for 35.5 por ciento of all recorded visitors. This was followed by dental technicians (18 por ciento), dental hygienists (9 por ciento), clinical assistants (6.7 por ciento) and orthodontists (5.8 por ciento).
Maintaining the spirit of professional dynamism that characterised the fair, the EXPODENTAL Speakers´ Corners and Training Forum attracted 2,264 attendees during the course of their 72 sessions, product presentations and round tables.
In addition, during Students’ Day, which took place on Thursday 15 March, the fair was visited by 4,028 of the sector’s future professionals, who could see first-hand the industry’s latest technological developments, as well as the current academic provision in terms of postgraduate programmes and studies, specialities, continuing education and MBAs, in the Training Sector.
EXPODENTAL 2018 was formally opened by the Secretary General for Health and Consumer Affairs, José Javier Castrodeza, and the trade fair also played host to the Regional Minister for Health of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, on the morning of Friday 16 March.
This year’s EXPODENTAL was sponsored by NACEX, a company that specialises in urgent courier services for the pharmaceutical sector, making deliveries to hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and distributors, as well as home deliveries. Additional sponsorship came from the GIMAGE digital communications company for the Speakers´ Corner in Pavilion 7, and Canon, a world leader in imaging solutions, for the Training Forum.
