Resounding Success for EXPODENTAL 2022

A very busy edition that has highlighted the desire of all dental professionals to meet in person again.

The Fair welcomed 26,154 trade visitors from 72 countries. It brought together the offer of more than 328 direct exhibitors, 542 represented companies and 1659 brands at a long-awaited edition held from 24th to 26th March at IFEMA MADRID.

Last 26th March, EXPODENTAL 2022 closed its doors. This edition has been a strategic edition that has highlighted the desire for a face-to-face meeting of all dental professionals after the pandemic. The Fair is organised by IFEMA MADRID and promoted by the Spanish Federation of Healthcare Technology Companies (Fenin). It has been a successful edition in terms of professional attendance and international scope. However, the most significant aspect of this edition has been the positive assessment by the participating companies, which have been unanimous in expressing their satisfaction with the results of a busy edition that has allowed them to resume personal contact with their clients and fill their agendas with quality contacts and business operations.

A total of 26,154 professionals visited this major event of the dental sector. It brought together the offer of 328 direct exhibitors, 542 represented companies and 1659 brands In halls 6, 8 and 10 of the Madrid Exhibition Centre. It has been a great gathering of industry and professionals that has also highlighted the strong international attendance, at 8.2% of visitors and professionals from 72 countries. In that segment, participation by professionals from the Latin American market grew by 2%. From the European market, the significant presence of Portugal (41.4%), Italy (16.2%) and Germany (6%) are especially noteworthy.

In the Spanish context, EXPODENTAL attracted trade visitors from across Spain, with visitors from all seventeen regions and Ceuta and Melilla, in a genuinely international edition. In this regard, it is important to note that visitors from outside Madrid accounted for 57.6% of the national attendance, with Andalusia, Catalonia, and Valencia (EXPODENTAL guest region) being the regions with the most visitors.

On the other hand, there was a lively attendance of 624 professionals at EXPODENTAL’s Speakers Corner, which held 40 sessions by different exhibiting companies that presented in detail some of the most innovative technologies, solutions and treatments developed over the previous two years.

With the same dynamism and pulling power that was a feature of EXPODENTAL, STUDENT’S DAY brought together 1160 future professionals from 34 clinics. They learned first-hand about the latest technological developments in the industry and access to the current training offer in programmes and postgraduate studies, specialities, continuing education and MBAs in the Training Sector section.

The Second Latin-America Panel Discussion took place in person at this edition. It highlighted some of the immediate challenges facing the sector, such as training professionals in new technologies, optimising resources and leveraging digital transformation to improve patient diagnosis and treatment, during a session organised by IFEMA MADRID and Fenin and moderated by Dr Óscar Castro, president of the General Council of Dentists of Spain, under the title New Advances in World Dentistry.

The Panel proved to be a reference point for sharing synergies, knowledge and experiences among dental professionals from Latin-American countries, Portugal and Spain. Participants included: Dr Lupe Salazar, President of the Latin American Dental Federation (FOLA), Dr Hugo A. Zamora of the Dental Confederation of the Argentine Republic, Dr Carlos Marchant Pizarro, of the College of Dental Surgeons of Chile, Dr María Fernanda Atuesta, of the Colombian Dental Federation, Dr Manuel Sergio Martínez of the Mexican Dental Association, Dr Pedro Fernández Ho, of the Panamanian Dental Association, Dr Rubén Viveros, of the Paraguayan Dental Federation, Dr David Vera, of the College of Dentists of Peru, Dr Enrique Laxague, of the Uruguayan Dental Association, Dr Miguel Pavao, President of the Portuguese Dental Association (OMD), Juan M. Molina, president of Fenin dental sector and Sonia Gómara, chair of the Expodental organising committee.

EXPODENTAL 2022 was opened by the Madrid Regional Government’s Minister of Health, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, in a ceremony that was also attended by the Madrid Regional Government’s Deputy Minister of Health Humanisation, María Dolores Moreno, and various representatives of IFEMA MADRID, the Spanish Federation of Health Technology Companies, Fenin, and the broader dental industry. And on the morning of Saturday 26th March, the Minister of Industry, Trade & Tourism, Reyes Maroto, visited.
