

EDUCATION WEEK 2023 will bring together 235 companies and organisations from 12 countries at Spain's leading education event
From 22 to 26 March 2023
A total of 235 companies and entities from twelve countries will attend the eighth SEMANA DE LA EDUCACIÓN 2023, where more than 200 activities will take place as part of the programme of parallel activities. These figures establish that SEMANA DE LA EDUCACIÓN, organised by IFEMA MADRID and scheduled to take place from 22 to 26 March in Halls 5 and 7 of the Recinto Ferial, is Spain’s biggest education event. As well as the in-person event, the Fair will use the digital LIVE Connect platform to increase its visibility and keep the sector connected 365 days of the year. Once again, SEMANA DE LA EDUCACIÓN will be a place to find educational guidance and in-person services and will underline the positive situation of the sector in Spain, with an 86.9% schooling rate among 15 to 19-year-olds.
SEMANA DE LA EDUACÓN 2023, whose special topic this year is Artistic Education, will host the 31st International Education Opportunities Exhibition, AULA (22 to 26 March 2023), the 27th International Educational Equipment and Teaching Resources Show and the 6th Congress of Educational Resources, INTERDIDAC Espacio R.E.D. (23 to 25 March), the 14th International HIGHER EDUCATION AND ONGOING TRAINING Fair (23 to 25 March), the 21st International Congress and Professional Fair EXPOELEARNING (23 and 24 March), as well as the fifth SCHOOLS DAY “Families and Schools Day” (25 March). The 12th edition of the MADRID POR LA CIENCIA Y LA INNOVACIÓN (Madrid for Science and Education), organised by IFEMA MADRID and the Fundación para el Conocimiento Madri+d will also take place within the framework of the week.
To align with UNESCO objectives, the 31st International Student and Education Opportunities Exhibition, AULA - 22 to 26 March - is emphasising Artistic Education, recognising the potential of creativity as a key resource for sustainable development and its potential to contribute to an inclusive, quality education. It is also highlighting Vocational Training, and its growing importance in the area of teaching and society at large, promoting STEAM education, life-long learning, also driving families’ role in their children’s education which helps to improve the functioning of schools and colleges and school performance, fostering coexistence and increasing the quality of the training. In this regard, Spain, with 74 per cent, ranks fourth among countries where parents participate in their children’s education, according to Participation Indicators of Parents in Mandatory Education (IPPE).
Once again, initiatives for encouraging equality and coexistence in the educational environment will play a key role. These objectives align with those set by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, the driver of SEMANA DE LA EDUCACIÓN, with its sight set on the Agenda 2030 of the United Nations.
All Madrid’s public universities and more than 20 private ones will participate in AULA, as well as others such as the Pontificia de Comillas, Católica de Murcia, the Europea, the Francisco de Vitoria and the universities of Catalonia. The university offer will be rounded off by proposals from numerous representatives of vocational training, courses abroad, languages, academies, and residencies, etc.
As usual, numerous institutions will be in attendance. As well as the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, promoter of the event, the Ministries of Universities, the Interior, Defence, Labour and Social Economy -through the State Public Employment Service, SEPE-, as well as the Women's Institute and the Community of Madrid will also be present at SEMANA DE LA EDUCACIÓN. The latter, through its Vice-Presidency and the Department of Education and Universities, will provide information and guidance on Vocational Training, university studies, Special Scheme education and Higher Artistic Studies.
Once again, AULA will organise dynamic interactive spaces and activities for students to learn about education proposals like Robotic Aula - in collaboration with the Charles III University of Madrid, the Programming Workshops with the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos; the Equality Classroom (with support from the Women's Institute); the Drama and Musicals Stage, Aula Forum; the Educational Guidance Area; the “For the Love of Art” workshops; Fine Arts Workshops in collaboration with the Complutense University in Madrid; Engineering and Architecture Activities Area, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Madrid; Building Workshops; and the “Living Together is not a Fairy Story” competition.
From Thursday, 23 March to Saturday, 25 March, the 14th International HIGHER EDUCATION AND ONGOING TRAINING FAIR will underline the importance of specialised training and life-long learning. It will deal with training needs for graduates who want to access higher cycles and for professionals who want to update and add to their knowledge with more training to be able to join the labour market more quickly. Business schools, training centres, universities, professional associations, education portals, and public bodies will present their training offer in Master, Doctorate and postgraduate studies, and language schools, etc.
This Exhibition will host OPEN CAMPUS TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT in collaboration with the Community of Madrid. This initiative will provide visitors with information about self-knowledge workshops, preparing a CV by skills, EURES, Virtual Office, ERASMUS+ mobility in CRN and the situation of the job market, together with specialist subjects improving job placement opportunities.
Likewise, it will provide visitors will the opportunity to discover means of accessing the broad services of the extensive network of 42 Employment Offices, guidance, job market, employment and training offers.
The 27th International Educational Equipment and 6th Congress of Educational Resources, INTERDIDAC Espacio R.E.D. (23 to 25 March) is a professional meeting for the education sector and a place for meeting, debate and reflection by teachers, school managers and professionals in the educational community, where they will share their experience and knowledge of trends and innovations in this area and best practices in learning.
The RED-Interdidac Congress and the HIGHER EDUCATION AND ONGOING TRAINING FAIR will feature an outstanding programme of joint seminars focused on the future of education, exploring new methodologies and educational resources to adapt to the current and future world. With a common thread that will be marked by an analysis of the educational field in the coming years, the programme will emphasise the implementation of new methodologies and resources to adapt to the main changes and challenges of society.
Within the conference programme, there will be, among others, talks on hot topics such as the STEAM challenges in Early Childhood, good practices in the coordination of welfare and protection, the metaverse and its opportunities for the first professionals trained in Spain, digital entertainment, eSports and video games, etc.
Saturday, 25 March, will see the fifth edition of SCHOOLS DAY, “Family and Schools Day”. A space in which, through workshops and activities, education centres, camps, and centres will show parents their extensive training offer and extracurricular activities.
EXPOLEARNING, the 21st International Congress and Trade Fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID and KENES GROUP, will take place from 23 to 24 March in Hall 5 of the Recinto Ferial, showcasing the main trends in the e-learning area. Artificial Intelligence, digitalisation and trends in e-learning are the basis for the programme of conferences.
Once again, this year, and in the wake of previous success, Madrid is gearing up for one of the best-established scientific education events, the 12th Madrid es Ciencia (Madrid is Science) Fair. Organised by the Community of Madrid through the Fundación para el Conocimiento madr+d in the framework of SEMANA DE LA EDUCACIÓN, this free event will take place from 23 to 25 March in Hall 5 of the IFEMA MADRID Recinto Ferial
With the motto “Looking to the Future,” the Fair aims to give a comprehensive overview of the R&D+i capabilities of the Community of Madrid to address future challenges, showing citizens the role of Science, Technology and Innovation in the search for solutions for the well-being of society and care for planet Earth.
