Tribute to Pessoa
Committed to the culture, the Spanish newspaper EL MUNDO comes back to ARCOmadrid with Soledad Sevilla. Las tardes azules (Soledad Sevilla. Blue evenings, in English), a work born from the “loving stare” to Lisbon buildings and setting up a tribute to Pessoa.
The rationality of the pottery covering the Portuguese capital rescues the experience of the artist Soledad Sevilla (Valencia, Spain, 1944) and a “glaringly geometric” past, in her own words.
Sevilla, who currently exhibites her artwork at the Marlborough Gallery, was the winner of the Velázquez Award in 2020. With her paintings, she culminates a creative roadmap following the steps of Fernando Pessoa around the Baixa written in The Book of Disquiet and turning the story of Bernardo Soares into a real experience.
