The Solo Projects Programme will continue to focus on work by Latin American artists In this edition, the section emphasises its role as a space for investigating work by Latin American artists, with the collaboration of a team of five curators. The projects will be selected at the request of the galleries, so that galleries can propose a project by a Latin American artist. A team consisting of the guest curators and a member of the committee will select the most interesting projects to be shown at ARCOmadrid 2013. Solo Projects will also function as a space for interaction between Latin America and Europe, with professional meetings of museum directors, critics and curators.
Cauê Alves Sao Paulo.
Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). Cauê is also one of the curators of 32º Panorama da Arte Brasileira do Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (2011) and associate curator of the 8ª Bienal do Mercosul (2011).
Sonia Becce Buenos Aires.
Independent curator. Coordinator of the grants programme for young artists directed by Guillermo Kuitca and co-director, together with Claudio Iglesias, of Premio Petrobras 2011, ArteBA, Buenos Aires. Among other projects she has been the curator of: smART, Freedom Tower, Miami Dade College, Miami (2010), Felix Gonzalez-Torres: Somewhere/Nowhere, MUAC (2010), México D.F. y Malba-Colección Costantini, Buenos Aires.
Patrick Charpenel Guadalajara.
He has done intensive work as a curator and collector highlighting the paradoxes and ambiguities of the contemporary world. He has curated an amount of exhibitions among which: Gabriel Orozco, Palacio de las Artes de México; Paseos/ Walks - Francis Alÿs Museo de Arte Moderno de México. Charpenel is a member of the Board of the Centre Pompidou-Latin America, Paris, France.
Alexia Dumani San José.
Independent curator in museums, Central America public and private collections and collaborator of Museo de Arte Costarricense, Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo, British Tobacco, Zürcher Arquitectos, or Fundación Ortiz-Gurdián de Nicaragua. Since 2009 Dumani is part of the board team of TEOR/éTica.
Manuela Moscoso Bogotá.
Independent curator and researcher. Master's Degree in Curatorial Studies at Bard College (New York) and (BA) in Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design (London). Among her recent exhibitions: Antes que todo, co-curated with Aimar Arriola at CA2M (2010, Madrid) and Even in the Quietest Moments at Vogt Gallery (2011, New York). Since the end of 2010, Moscoso and curator Sarah Demeuse created the curatorial office RIVET (New York).
José Ignacio Roca Barranquilla.
Artistic director of Philagrafika 2010, triennial contemporary graphic in Philadelphia, and curator of 8ª Bienal do Mercosul (2011). He was co-curator of the I Trienal Poli/gráfica (2004) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the 27 Bienal de São Paulo (2006) Brazil, the Medellin Meeting MDE07 (2007), and many exhibitions in Latin America, United States, Europe and Asia.
