Recorridos por ARCO. 25 years of photography in Spain, an exhibition curated by ARTIUM in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes, will travel to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Tokyo, beginning in April.
The travelling exhibition, which includes works by some of the most outstanding photographers in the Spanish art panorama, for example, Alberto García Alix, Cristina García Rodero, Humberto Rivas, Ouka Leele, Joan Fontcuberta and Sergio Belinchón, reflects on the how the fair has evolved in over two decades, providing a valuable artistic document with the heterogenous perspectives of the artists themselves.
Recorridos fotográficos por ARCO, an initiative launched by the Amigos de ARCO Association in 1988 to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of photography, currently has over 400 pictures by 87 photographers, 30 of whom are from abroad. Since 2004 the collection has been kept on display at the Centro Museo ARTIUM, in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
