GALLERIES

GENERAL PROGRAMME

A selection of international galleries chosen by the ARCOmadrid 2013 Organising Committee

With the objective of differentiating ARCOmadrid’s role within the overall art fair scene, and to reinforce its role as a source of information for the large number of collectors and art world professionals who visit the fair every year, ARCOmadrid 2013 presents a new initiative aimed at highlighting one artist per booth. The idea is to provide an extra incentive for galleries to propose a special presentation of one of the artists in its roster, without implying any kind of exclusive project or solo show. ARCOmadrid will then give special coverage to those artists in its press releases, catalogue and infoarco leaflet. At the same time, all information regarding these presentations will be sent in advance to all invited critics and curators before the fair’s opening.

Besides, the minimum size of booths at ARCOmadrid 2013 is reduced to 40 sq.m, a solution that does away with the former ARCO 40 section as such. However, in order to maintain high quality presentations, there will be a limit on the number of artists in smaller stands: those measuring between 40 and 49 sq.m. can present a maximum of 4 artists; those between 50 and 59 sq.m a maximum of 5 and those over 60 sq.m may present any number of artists.

Application fee: € 300
Space+ Modular Stand: €/sq.m. 260 + 8% VAT (minimum 40 sq.m.)

CURATED PROJECTS

SOLO PROJECTS: FOCUS LATIN AMERICA

Solo Projects will again be focused on Latin-American artists. This year, the section will reinforce its ambition as a space for showcasing new work by Latin-American artists with the collaboration of a team of five curators. Galleries with specific presentations of Latin-American artists are invited to apply to this section. A team comprising the guest curators and a member of the fair’s committee will then select the most interesting projects for ARCOmadrid 2013. Solo Projects also operates as a space for exchange between Latin America and Europe, with professional meetings with museum directors, critics and curators.
