SIMO EDUCACIÓN 2018 will focus on ‘Leadership in management as the key to boosting methodological innovation’

For the second year running, SIMO EDUCACIÓN 2018 will provide a unique programme of workshops aimed at directors and managers of educational institutions. Under the title ‘Leadership in management - the key to boosting methodological innovation’, it will address various issues and case studies relevant to the progression toward new models for innovation management and institutional transformation.  

The programme, which will be delivered over two morning sessions in the Aula Magna at SIMO EDUCACIÓN (Hall 14 - Feria de Madrid), will begin on Wednesday 14 November with a conference held by Pere Marquès, Director of Proyecto Centros Innovadores (Innovative Institutions Project), on the so-called ‘star of educational innovation’ - the systemic model for innovation management in teaching institutions. Its key principles involve, on the one hand, three core concepts - curriculum, teaching methodologies and ITC tools - and, on the other, three agents - management, teaching staff and students/families, alongside instruments such as innovation plans, coordination, organisational adjustments, and objectives focused on improving students’ learning, development and academic performance. The session will be rounded off with the presentation of case studies from the San Fernando School in Aranjuez and the Luis de Santángel School in Valencia.

On Thursday 15 November, Coral Regi, Director of Escola Virolai, will speak about ‘A student-centred school - a school for learning’, focusing on this affiliated school in Barcelona which, since its foundation in the late 1950s, has been characterised by its implementation of an educational strategy that is open, responsive, innovative and constantly developing. During the 2005-2006 academic year, the school began a comprehensive transformation of its strategy to follow a student-centred approach, ensuring a school for learning. Its key aspects are tutorial support, personal relationships based on affection, cooperation, family involvement, creativity and continuous improvement. In addition, Carol de Britos, the school’s Primary Education Coordinator, will share her own experiences.

Organised by IFEMA, in partnership with the specialist publication Educación 3.0, SIMO EDUCACIÓN 2018 will take place from 13 to 15 November at Feria de Madrid. This event, taking place under the banner ‘Innovating in Education to Transform the World’, will offer an important overview of cutting-edge technological tools and solutions for educational innovation, as well as for improving learning processes and managing educational institutions.
