This new space, called Innovative Toy, will showcase a selection of products - both new and prototypes - that reflect trends in children’s toy design and will be a source of inspiration for designers and for the retail trade.
The trade fair will also host a seminar on trends in the toy world, which will be given by child trend expert María Costa, head of children’s research and leisure at AIJU (Children's Products & Leisure Institute)
This new area of the trade fair will have its usual Toy Space, where visitors will see products from early years’ toy manufacturers and distributors
The trade show, organised by IFEMA, will be attended by more than 400 participating companies and brands and will take place from 29 September to2 October at Feria de Madrid
One of the main innovations at Puericultura Madrid, the International Childhood Products Trade Show, to be held from 29 September to 2 October at Feria de Madrid, organised by Ifema, will be to strengthen the toy sector with a new area devoted to Innovative Toys. The event is organising this initiative in collaboration with Nexus Design Centre, in order to bring a selection of products - new and prototypes - that fit the trends identified in children’s toys, and which will serve as a source of inspiration for designers and the specialist trade.
Trends&Kids, new and emerging products in the toy sector
The Innovative Toy Area, conceived as an area of the exhibition, will feature Trends&Kids, an initiative from the Nexus Design Centre designed to detect trends in the kids’ world and their dissemination, where there will be a selection of products arranged by categories, according to the trends of the moment: 360º Design; 100% Design; People Centred Toys; From storytelling to storyplaying; Creative technology; Pure technology; Folkture; and Traditional Game.
This exhibition of products, most of which are toys, is framed in the context of design proposals for children presented in the Kids Trends Book 18 trends notebook, an inspirational book containing the essence of each of today's trends. Most of the examples it uses to illustrate these trends are by Spanish brands and companies with international influence.
The Nexus Design Centre, which collaborates with Puericultura Madrid in this Innovative Toy area, is a centre of design knowledge that specialises in offering advanced research services. It is located in the Polytechnic University of Valencia and is made up of specialists and investigators from the different design disciplines oriented at innovation, based on generation of new concepts, sounding out the market, creativity, communication, design policies and international and external design management.
The Innovative Toy Area is complemented by the Playgame space, a children’s zone where you will find products from the exhibitors taking part in the Toy sector at the fair, which are available for testing.
Toy sector trends seminar
Likewise, in the framework of boosting the Toy Sector that the next edition of Puericultura Madrid will offer, the exhibition will organise a Trends Seminar, where it will share knowledge on Design, Communication and Distribution of Products aimed at kids. This seminar will be run by children’s trends expert María Costa, head of child and leisure research at AIJU.
As well as all this, the event will have its now traditional Toy Space, which brings together the offer from early years’ toy manufacturers and distributors in the usual exhibition area, totally integrated in the event and with a format adapted to the needs of the toy sector.
A not-to-be-missed event
The next edition of Puericultura Madrid will have all the features that have made it such a unique event since the very first edition. On the one hand, it will offer an innovative, special format that encourages a positive shopping experience, encouraged by its design and the existence of networking opportunities for buyers. This year’s edition of the meeting is expected to attract more than 400 exhibiting brands and companies, including the sector leaders, as well as a selection of newcomers, who will strengthen their international activity to attract novelties and buyers. With all this, Puericultura Madrid will show, yet again, that it is the greatest event for the sector in Spain and Portugal.
Just like previous editions, Puericultura 2016 will be laid out so that there is a general exhibition area as well as separate spaces for Toys and Fashion, as well as a Starters area for supporting emerging companies in the sector. There will also be a new sector called Baby& Mum Experience, which will feature outstanding designs and trends in the childcare industry.
As in previous years, the trade fair will have a Business & Fun networking area, where it will combine leisure and business activities, as well as offering specialised training activities for retailers, inspiration and trends, along with a plethora of activities for exhibitors and visitors.
All this will establish Puericultura Madrid as an unmissable date for the retail trade in Spain, Portugal and markets outside the sector.
