IFEMA has expressed its gratitude to the Spanish Association of Pet Product Distributors (Aedpac), and to the Madrid Association of Pet Veterinarians (Amvac), for their role in the merger of the sector’s two most important trade fairs into first edition of Iberzoo+Propet, the International Pet Industry Trade Fair, that was such a success from 16 to 18 March at IFEMA-Feria de Madrid.
This appreciation inspired IFEMA to create these commemorative trophies, that were handed by the Managing Director of IFEMA, Eduardo López-Puertas, to the Presidents of the associations during an organisers’ committee meeting of Iberzoo+Propet, held two days ago in Madrid. Lluc Ferrer accepted the prize on behalf of Aedpac, while José Ramón Escribano accepted the trophy for Amvac.
The first edition of Iberzoo+Propet, the International Pet Industry Trade Fair, organised by IFEMA was a resounding success. In total, the exhibition received visits from 16,224 professionals, 31.4% more than those who attended the previous edition when the Iberzoo+Propet trade fairs were held independently. Therefore, Iberzoo+Propet has confirmed, from the first edition, that it is a magnificent event for the sector, bringing together all parties involved. Of all the visitors, 7% were foreigners.
As well as the two trophy-recognitions awarded by Ifema to Aedpac and Amvac, Iberzoo+Propet had its own prize-giving ceremony during the event, a collaboration by the associations to recognise worthy persons and organisations in the sector. The professionals recognised at the first edition of these awards were Carolina Corral, Director and Founder of ALBA, Association for Animal Liberation and Welfare, in the Professional Career in the Field of Animal Protection category; Dr Miguel Ruiz Pérez, director of the Clínica Mediterráneo de Madrid, in the professional career in the veterinary field category, and Santy Atilano, General Manager of ARPPE, and a key figure in the sector, in the Professional category, in the enterprise level. The AMVAC Charity prize went to the Fundación Pablo Ugarte, which fights against cancer in children.
Likewise, the Ajuntament de Barcelona was recognised with a special prize by Iberzoo+Propet, the International Pet Industry Trade Fair, in the category of ‘government initiative for encouraging coexistence with animals’, for providing and promoting the first stretch of beach open to dogs on the Barcelona coast..
The next edition of Iberzoo+Propet will be held from 15 to 17 March 2018 at Feria de Madrid.
