Organised by IFEMA and promoted by the FGEE, this trade fair is set to take place from 4 to 6 October in Hall 14 at Feria de Madrid

Madrid is once again hosting the biggest international Spanish-language book event with the35 Anniversary of LIBER, the International Book Fair, which organised by IFEMA and promoted by the Federation of Publishers' Guilds of Spain –FGEE-,  will be held from 4 to 6 October.

Consolidated as the largest showcase for books in the Spanish language and as the main business and professional exchange centre for this industry, the Fair  is open to all book-related sectors, with special attention to digital content, new publishers, self-publishing and literary agents.

In this regard, LIBER 2017 will again feature the Digital Area to showcase new trends and innovations in publishing: digitisation, reading devices, training, apps, online sales, distribution and marketing, reading social networks, applications which offer users interactive experiences, publishing management software and metadata, anti-piracy solutions, etc. This space, aimed at companies specialised in the digital environment, will be complemented by a program of presentations of industry technology tools, innovative products and services and trends. All in all, a place with the content, ideas and technology to respond to the current needs of publishers faced with the challenges presented by digital products and services and new cultural consumption habits

The Fair will also feature, once again, the Author Area, which allows independent authors to increase their knowledge of the possibilities offered by self publishing, as well as the services and tools available to them. In the same space there will be different publishing platforms, tools, processes, etc. and techniques will be presented for marketing, social media promotion and other ways to improve sales of self-published books. In this way, LIBER adapts and gives answers to the needs created by the growing consolidation of self-publishing, accommodating all companies offering services to independent authors:

A new feature is the 3rd International Spanish Language Forum 2.0, held as part of LIBER 2017, following the alliance established between the Plataforma del Español,IFEMA and the FGEE, and which will give continuity to the first edition in2015. The Fair thus becomes the ideal platform to hold this second edition of the forum, whose main objective is to drive the Spanish language as an active generator of business for the invigoration and globalisation of the various production sectors which operate around the world's 2nd most spoken language

The project, which has been designed as a forum for meetings and exchange for agents who participate in the cultural industry related to the Spanish language, will be organised around a full program of technical sessions and commercial meetings which will encourage contacts between public and private operators.

LIBER will also bring back the MicroLiber inititative to facilitate and encourage the participaton of small publishers, entrepreneurs and start-ups in the Fair, and get in touch with buyers and visitors in an easier and more afforable manner.

LIBER 2017 is sponsored by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, ICEX, the Community of Madrid, Madrid City Council and Cedro, in collaboration with the Association of Publishers of Madrid and AC/E.
