MULAFEST, the Festival of Urban Trends and Culture, organised by IFEMA and MULA, will be heading abroad for its first international event in Acapulco, which will take place from 12 to 14 July 2019 .
The signing of the collaboration protocol agreement between IFEMA and Mundo Imperial for MULAFEST 2019 ACAPULCO took place this afternoon, at FITUR, the International Tourism Fair in Madrid. The signing was attended by the state governor of Guerrero, Héctor Astudillo Flores, and the secretary of tourism of Guerrero, Ernesto Rodríguez Escalona.
The signing, which took place at the stand of the Mexican State of Guerrero - 3A04, Hall 3, Feria de Madrid- at FITUR 2019, was attended by Seyed Rezvani the director general of Mundo Imperial, the complex where the festival will be held, and Eduardo López-Puertas, the general director of IFEMA, which is organising the festival in Spain.
MULAFEST is a unique festival format based on the search for alternative talent and on promoting creativity. For seven years, MULAFEST has hosted thousands of people from across Spain in Madrid to share different intellectual, artistic and creative disciplines in what has become an essential event for urban culture in the capital.
The Mexican version of the festival will have the same areas as its Spanish counterpart (tattoo, garage, urban art, performing arts, urban sport) as well as others such as surfing with the Surf Open League, the traditional international stage for professional surfing, which will take place at the Hotel Palacio Mundo Imperial complex during the weekend of the festival. The best surfers in the world and the country will meet for this stage of the World Surf League Qualifying Series 1000.
Surf Open League promotes surfing and seeks to transform Mexico into the capital of Latin surfing with athletes, events and other experiences related to this sport. In addition, there will be an exhibition with five of the best athletes in America in these disciplines, including Max Barrera and Gerardo Bejarano.
MULAFEST 2019 ACAPULCO will also have a skate park in the Hotel Palacio Mundo Imperial complex, with a circuit of ramps and transitions so that skate and BMX fans can practice over the three days of the event.
In the garage area, Pedro Pablo Asturiano Zúñiga will be responsible for shaping the space, which will feature an exhibition of custom and vintage motorcycles and an exhibition of art relating to motorcycling. Asturiano Zúñiga is the creator of the most important art and motorcycle festival in Latin America, 73 Vintage, and founder of the Lost Boys Café Racer Crew, the most emblematic café racer team in Mexico City and in Latin America.
MULAFEST ACAPULCO will bring together more than 200 national and international tattoo artists in Mexico for the first time in collaboration with La Tatuadora, the largest tattoo community in Mexico and in Latin America.
Well-established artists from Spain and Mexico will participate in the festival along with other emerging artists, creating a platform that provides visibility to their talent in which the public will play a role at the 1st MULAFEST ACAPULCO Urban Art Contest.
The festival’s programme will be completed with breakdance battles and hip-hop exhibitions, as well as various reggaeton (Friday 12), electronic (Saturday 13) and rock (Sunday 14) concerts, which will take place over the three days.
This alliance with Mexico will also be reflected in the festival in Madrid, which will take place from 26 to 28 April, with Mexican content and artists.
The eighth Mulafest, the Festival of Urban Trends and Culture Madrid, organised by IFEMA and MULA, will be held from 26 to 28 April 2019. A great gathering of urban culture, where creativity and alternative talent are encouraged. Petrol heads, lovers of tattoos, underground art, music, and more will come together in one space at IFEMA - Feria de Madrid.
