The Minibus Euro Test will select the winner of Europe’s Minibus of the Year

The International Bus and Coach Fair, which at its last edition brought together 128 companies, with 240 brands represented and the attendance of 10,041 trade visitors from 47 countries, will hold a new event from 6 to 9 October 2020 at Feria de Madrid.

IFEMA and the magazine Autobuses & Autocares, are again jointly organising the second edition of the Minibus Euro Test, which will select the Minibus of the Year in Europe. This prize fills what was until now a gap in Europe: for minibuses, microbuses and midibuses for the passenger transport business.

The Minibus of the Year award is made possible by the agreement between IFEMA, the organiser of the International Bus and Coach Fair, FIAA, and the trade journal Autobuses & Autocares, the official representative in Spain of the International Bus & Coach of the Year Awards. It will be the jury for these awards, whose members are from leading journals on road passenger transport from 21 European countries, which will assess the performance of the vehicles that are candidates for the Minibus of the Year.

The tests for the candidate vehicles, that will take place next 9 and 10 April, will start out from and return to IFEMA’s facilities.  This second edition of the Minibus Euro Test will focus on urban transport vehicles, and the participants will feature Europe’s main manufacturers. The Minibus of the Year Prize will be awarded at the end of the trials.

The tests include vehicle behaviour tests on a real public transport route designed for this purpose. The impressions and data obtained will be subsequently evaluated by the members of the Jury, and the winning vehicle will be chosen by vote. Candidates will be invited to participate by the Jury.

First edition of the Minibus Euro Test and FIAA

The first edition of the Minibus Euro Test was held in Spring 2017 and the trophy was presented during the International Bus and Coach Fair (FIAA) in May of that year. The Minibus of the Year was awarded to Iveco’s Daily Tourys model, and the award was collected by Sylvain Blaise, president of Iveco Bus, who came to Madrid for the occasion.

The last edition of FIAA was held in 2017 and was visited by 10,041 professionals from 47 countries. Visitors were able to find out about the latest offerings and innovations from 128 companies and 240 represented brands, leading manufacturers of bodies, chassis and complete vehicles, as well as companies specializing in accessories, technology, maintenance and infrastructure for passenger transport. The next edition will be held from 6 to 9 October 2020.
