For the 3rd consecutive year FITUR organizes INVESTOUR in collaboration with the UNWTO and Casa África. This forum recognizes the dynamic effect of tourism on the economy of the African continent, promoting sustainable development in the region.
Its main objective is to make known Africa's potential for Spanish tourism investment, presenting companies in the sector with proposals for projects in African countries, and facilitating contact between operators in Spain and Africa engaged in the following areas:
- Tourism project financing and investments
- The promotion and representation of destinations in the Spanish outbound market
- The creation and improvement of hotel establishments
- Ecotourism operations in national parks and protected areas.
- The promotion of wildlife-based tourism; safaris, etc.
- The promotion of cultural tourism.
- The transfer of technology and know-how in the hotel business and tourism sector.
- Infrastructure and transport.
Investour’s format consists of a technical session on tourism in Africa and its relationship to Spain, with the participation of leading figures in the public and private tourism sectors in Africa and Spain. A Business to Business (B2B) forum is also held, business meetings between African companies and institutions and potential Spanish partners and investors offering a previously arranged line-up of appointments.
The second edition of INVESTOUR built upon the success of the preceding event, with attendance by 200 people and 35 African countries, and presentations on 141 projects. This time around the African region invited was Southern Africa, represented by the SADC regional group and its 15 member countries. The third edition will feature participation by the countries of Eastern and Central Africa, belonging to the regional organizations the EAC and ECCAS.
