Welcome to Fitur Green

It is our pleasure to inform you of the launching of the 2nd edition of FITUR GREEN, in the wake of the first edition’s success.

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), a specialised UN agency for tourism has launched a project to encourage the European hotel sector to access and use energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies: Hotel Energy Solutions. The project is co-funded by the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (EACI), and is being implemented in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Hotel and Restaurant Association (IH&RA), the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), and the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC).

The Hotel Energy Solutions project targets small and medium enterprises (SMEs) of the accommodation sector within the European Union Member States. Hence, it is developing practical tools and training to assist this group to prioritise suitable energy efficiency and renewable energy investments, while reassessing how to cut operational costs, increase profit margins and alleviate the industry’s impact on climate change.

The most innovative part is the Hotel Energy Solutions e-toolkit: a free-of-charge, online, diagnostic tool that helps SME hotels to identify own energy consumption, the carbon footprint and proposes the best solutions to improve the performance, and a quick calculation of the investment required and the return on this investment, at the same time that benchmarks the results, in comparison with similar properties.

The Hotel Energy Solutions e-toolkit and the preliminary results will be presented during the second Annual Hotel Energy Solutions Conference, taking place on 20 January 2011 at FITUR targeting mainly accommodation sector managers, tourism and energy sectors’ decision-makers, technology providers and manufacturers. An exhibition area for the suppliers of these technologies. FITUR GREEN will be located in a specially-indicated area in Hall 10 at the Trade Fair’s grounds (see attached map) where most of the Fair’s hotel service companies are located. It should be noted of the 10,966 companies participating in the last edition of FITUR, 39% belonged to the hotel sector, which multiplies the possibilities for meetings at the Fair for suppliers, like your company, of specialized solutions.
