Over 5,000 experts, doctors and industry representatives from around the world met in Madrid from 5 to 7 October for the 25th Annual Conference organised by the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO), which took place at the North Convention Centre and Hall 9 at IFEMA-Feria de Madrid.
The EAO Conference is the most prestigious international professional event in the medical field of Implant Dentistry. The 2017 edition joined forces with two of the most influential dental associations in Spain – SEPES and SEPA –, with the participation of some of the biggest names in dental implants.
There were three days of intense activity, both at the conference and at the expo, sharing advances in cutting-edge research, as well as the latest developments in technology presented by the leading manufacturers of specialised medical equipment.
The different sessions shared experiences and knowledge focused on daily practice, with expert discussions, interactive video presentations and clinics, as well as a variety of practical workshops. The EAO presented its Digital area – a virtual part of the Conference that acted as a showcase for digital content integrated into the expo zone.
For the first time, the Association broadcasted presentations online on Facebook, which will make it possible to tune in from anywhere in the world, following three free-access sessions live and channelling audience participation. This new option will facilitated dialogues with doctors and researchers on the net, and it provided access to the advances in research and clinical practice.
Some of the new developments covered are the latest advances in dental implants with replacement of the tooth’s natural root. This is a qualitative step forward that provides a secure base for a crown, bridge or other dental prostheses. Scientifically, it has proven to be a reliable option for long-term treatment and a drastic improvement in the patient’s quality of life.
The European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) was founded in the 1990s to contribute to bridging the gap between science and clinical practice. It brings together researchers, scientists and dentists from around the world to discuss best practices in Implant Dentistry and to promote the development of cutting-edge research.
