A total of 9 congresses will be held in 2017, with the medical science industry particularly to the fore. They will make an important economic impact on Madrid


2017 will be one of IFEMA’s most important years as a venue for international congresses, a year in which it will confirm its position as a leading global reference point in the medical science industry. Eight congresses specializing in the health sector are due to take place, not to mention a major aviation and air traffic control congress.

 

 




This latter event will be the one that will in fact kick off the year’s schedule of congresses in March, when more than 6,000 professionals will attend the World ATM Congress, (the World Air Traffic Management Exhibition and Congress)
That event will be followed by the 15th edition of the congress of the EAPC (the European Association for Palliative Care) from the 18th to the 20th of May, with more than 2,500 specialists in attendance, and by the 54th international ERA/EDTA Congress, (the European Renal Association and the European Dialysis and Transplants Association), which will be held from the 3rd to the 6th of June. More than 11,000 doctors and exhibitors are expected to attend. And then just a week later, Madrid and IFEMA are once again the venue for the Congress of the European League against Rheumatism, (EULAR) which will be holding its 20th edition. The objective is to exceed the number of participants who visited Madrid in 2013 and to welcome some 16,000 professionals from all over the world.
Another event that has been confirmed for the coming year is the worldwide congress of the International Federation of Dentists (FDI) which will take place between the 29th of August and the 1st of September 2017. More than 5,000 odontologists will gather in Madrid to discover the latest advances in that field.
Also in the field of health, the Medical Oncology Congress will be returning to Ifema from the 8th to the 12th of September. Organised by the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), in collaboration with the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), this event, which first took place in Madrid in 2014, will welcome some 20,000 delegates from around the world. The European Association of Osseointegration (EOA) will be holding its 24th Scientific Meeting from the 5th to the 7th of October; SEH-LELHA, the Congress of the Spanish Hypertension Society -the Spanish League against Hypertension has chosen IFEMA for yet another year as the venue for its 22nd edition from the 29th to the 31st of March, and the XXXVII SEMI Congress of the Spanish Internal Medicine Society will welcome Spanish specialists from the 22nd to the 24th of November. Thanks to these last three events, Madrid will welcome more than 8,000 visitors.
