  The IFEMA Centre of Conventions and Congresses will hold, in the last quarter of 2014, five important national and international congresses.

The activity of the IFEMA Centre of Conventions and Congresses will stand out this year between September and November with five important national and international congresses being held. The XVI International Congress of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), which will take place from 14 to 18 September; the Congress of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), from 26 to 30 September; the XIII International Congress of the Human Proteome Organisation (HUPO), which will be held from 5 to 8 October; the XXXII Annual Congress and International Exhibition No-Dig (ISTT NO-DIG), from 13 to 15 October; and the X Congress of the Spanish Society of Palliative Care (SECPAL), between 13 to 15 November.

The season starts with the XVI International Congress of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA)being held, co-organised by the Spanish Association of Neuropsychiatry (AEN), the Spanish Association of Psychiatry (SEP) and the Portuguese Society of Psychiatry and Mental Health (SPPSM),
it will focus on "access, quality and human attention" and an attendance is expected of more than 15,000 people coming from 117 countries. The last edition, held in September 2011 in Buenos Aires (Argentina), already attracted more than 14,000 attendees.

In the same month the Congress of the European Association of Medical Oncology (ESMO Congress)will take place, which will deal with the subject "The accuracy of medicine in cancer treatment", an ideal that is becoming more real since most of the latest research and trials include specific therapies and improvements in immunotherapy.

Then, in October, the XIII International Congress of the Human Proteome Organisation (HUPO Congress)will take place, together with the VII EuPA annual Conference (European Association of Proteomics) and the VI Congress of the Spanish Society of Proteomics, which will gather professionals and specialists from all over the world to discuss the advances in the field of proteomics and their present and future applications.

Also in October the XXXII Congress and International Exhibition No-Dig (ISTT NO-DIG)will be held, one of the largest events in the trenchless technology industry. It will have as a host the Iberian Association of Trenchless Technology (IbSTT). In addition, it will be a meeting point for engineers from all over the world and it will have a programme composed of a great variety of technical sessions and a live demo of the latest technologies and products.

To close the year, in November, the X National Congress of the Spanish Society of Palliative Care (SECPAL)will take place, with the slogan “meeting point”. It will gather together for three days more than 1,500 congress attendees and tens of national and international groups with the purpose of learning how to give adequate attention to patients in advanced stage of illness.

The year 2014 is especially relevant for the area of IFEMA Congresses and Conventions, whose growing international importance has led it to contribute decidedly in the positioning of Madrid in second place of the ICCA international ranking of congress cities, after Paris and before Vienna, Barcelona and Berlin. In total, 9 large international and European congresses will be held in the facilities of Feria de Madrid, until the end of the year, 5 of them within the scientific medical field, which together with another 2 important national congresses in this sector, place IFEMA as one of the international leading entities in medical specialisation events.
These congresses, throughout the year, will attract to Madrid around 50,000 professionals from all over the world (85% foreigners) which in terms of hotel occupancy of the city will represent an average of 150,000 rooms.
For 2015 another 10 international congresses are already confirmed, which will bring about the arrival to Madrid of more than 65,000 professional visitors.
