    The information technology project undertaken by IFEMA has won the ICT award, beating out Fiera Milano and UBM London
    UFI, the association that brings together the world's leading exhibition institutions and operators (630 in 85 countries), has recently published its list of annual awards recognising the best initiatives undertaken in different areas of activity. In this edition the UFI ICT award has gone to IFEMA, which was a finalist with Fiera de Milano SpA and UBM pic of London with its business-focused and forward-looking technology process project developed in recent years. Furthermore, it has been selected as a finalist in the UFI Education Awards for its master project to analyse and optimise its employees' skills and profiles.

    In 2014, it will hold eight large international congresses, with the attendance of over 50,000 professionals that will generate an occupancy of over 150,000 hotel stays in the city
    IFEMA will allocate over 3 million euros to foster foreign trade among the exhibitors

    IFEMA, Madrid's trade fair body, has signed a collaboration agreement with Spanish State Railways, Renfe, within the framework of the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR, in order to extend the programme of special discounts that the railway company offers exhibitors and visitors to the fairs, conferences and other activities staged at Feria de Madrid. The agreement was signed by the Executive Chairman of IFEMA, Luis Eduardo Cortés, and by the Chairman of RENFE, Julio Gómez-Pomar Rodríguez, in the company of the Managing Director of IFEMA, Fermín Lucas.

    Madrid ranks fourth in the world's business tourism cities, second in Europe as a shopping destination, and eighth in Europe in tourist spending

    Driving business tourism is a major goal for IFEMA, which receives more than 2.3 million visitors a year to the trade fairs and conferences held at Feria de Madrid. More than 50% of these visitors come from outside Madrid, and 12% from other countries, representing huge potential in terms of impact on the region's economy, especially in retail and other services.
