Increased participation in the second National Championship for Student Pastry Chefs

A total of 28 Pastry Schools (26 confirmed and 2 on the waiting list) from all across Spain have registered for the contest, which will take place on 25 and 26 February 2019 during Intersicop at Feria de Madrid

A total of 28 pastry schools from across the whole of Spain have registered for participation in the second National Championship for Student Pastry Chefs, organised by the Spanish Confederation of Artisan Pastry Companies (CEEAP). 26 of the entrants will participate in the competition, to be held on 25 and 26 February 2019 within the framework of Intersicop, the International Bakery, Pastry, Ice-cream and Coffee Show, organised by IFEMA at Feria de Madrid.

 

The CEEAP has expanded the competition following the notable success of its debut year, in which 24 schools participated and the top prize went to Paula Pons from the Pastry School of the Guild of Barcelona. The level of participation reflects the warm welcome that the pastry-making sector has given to this competition, which promotes high-quality professional education in pastry-making and offers an opportunity to promote their training provision.

 

One of the changes made for this second contest is the new age limit, which has risen from 22 to 24 years of age. Applicants will have eight hours to create nine pieces of filled and decorated choux pastry, two chocolate cakes with a minimum of three different components and – to replace last year’s croissants – nine mille-feuille pastries with a pastry base and two layers of filling of the student’s own choice.

 

The 26 competing schools come from Catalonia, Murcia, Asturias, Andalusia, Cantabria, Castile-La Mancha, Valencia, Madrid, Castile and León, Galicia and Mallorca.
