INTERSICOP 2011 FEATURES WIDE-RANGING REPRESENTATION OF THE BAKERY AND PASTRY SECTORS AND RELATED INDUSTRIES

With still three months to go before the fair, a total of 173 Spanish and foreign companies have already confirmed their participation at the leading trade forum for the industry.

Between 24th and 28th March 2011, professionals working within the bakery, pastry, chocolate and confectionery sectors will come together at the leading trade event for the industry, the International Bakery, Pastry and Related Industries Show, INTERSICOP 2011, which will stage its ninth edition at Feria de Madrid.

To date, a total of 173 Spanish and foreign companies have confirmed their participation at INTERSICOP, based on an occupied net exhibition area measuring some 11,416 square metres. These favourable figures reveal the considerable degree of interest that this industry has shown in its leading fair, an event that constitutes the best trade forum for launching new products, exchanging experiences and establishing trade contacts.

The international dimension of this fair, which is considered to be the leading showcase for the Spanish bakery and pastry industry and one of the leading events of its kind in Europe, is reflected by the growing level of participation on the part of foreign companies and professionals. In this respect, to date the fair has recruited a total of 34 companies from Italy, France, Germany, Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Andorra and Sweden.

In addition to serving as a key business event, INTERSICOP 2011 will once again provide an international forum for promoting the consumption of bread, chocolate and pastry products, effectively updating techniques and presenting new finishes in order to bring these products into line with new social trends. Today's society is concerned with more healthy eating habits, whilst also seeking to recover and preserve Spain's rich gastronomic heritage and traditions. In this respect, the fair will provide a meeting-point for the latest technological developments within this field, together with traditional techniques and approaches. Handmade bread, pastry and chocolate-making techniques will combine with latest-generation machinery and the most outstanding advances.

Coinciding with the exhibition itself, INTERSICOP will present an extensive Programme of Specialised Conferences, trade meetings and activities aimed at the thousands of professionals who visit the event. Among other measures, the Spanish Confederation of Pastry Artisans, CEEAP, has now defined the rules that will govern the Championship for Best Master Pastry-Cook Artisan in Spain. In 2011, contenders for this award will be required to carry out various pieces of work based on a single theme: FANTASY.
