TEN YEARS OF IFEMA'S NORTH CONFERENCE CENTRE
Ten years contributing to the intense activity of IFEMA CONFERENCES AND CONVENTIONS, one of the main business lines of the Madrid trade fair institution.
On 3 April 2002, the then President of the Madrid Autonomous Region, Alberto Ruiz Gallardón, inaugurated the new North Conference Centre, which was part of the second extension of the IFEMA trade fair site. This extension involved the incorporation of the new Conference Centre and two other halls. This brought the surface area of Feria de Madrid to 150,000 m2, in line with the size and resources of the leading European trade fair sites. The investment was 95 million euros, all generated by IFEMA's own activity and resources, as was the case for the other extensions. Other improvements included new parking spaces nearer to the halls, and new accesses to the motorway linking the site directly to Barajas International Airport. Later the moving walkways would be installed to connect the South and North Gates via the Central Avenue of Feria de Madrid.
This Conference Centre, with a total area of 10,000 m2, has 20 multipurpose rooms which can be adapted to the needs of the client. The North Auditorium is notable for its extendable stands, seating up to 1,100 people. There are also more than 50 other meeting rooms on the first floors of the ... -

A SUCCESSFUL 2011 FOR CONVENTIONS AND CONGRESSES AT IFEMA DRAWS TO A CLOSE
Nearly 900,000 visitors attended 9 congresses, 33 fairs organised by other organisations and 442 events held at Feria de Madrid.
This year has been a successful one for IFEMA CONVENTIONS and CONGRESSES, with 884,260 people attending the 9 congresses, 33 fairs organised by other organisations and 442 events of all kinds that have been held at Feria de Madrid in the course of 2011.Congresses held in the second half of 2011 include the Manager Forum – National Finance, National Sales and Marketing, and Human Resources and Management congresses, the ESRI European User Conference, and SAP Sapphire Now & Sapphire TechEd. IFEMA CHOSEN TO HOLD THE 39TH ESMO CONGRESS IN 2014
Madrid is to hold the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress (ESMO 2014). Bringing together 18,000 delegates from 26 to 20 September 2014, the meeting will be the biggest international medical congress ever organised in the Spanish capital and will establish our city as a preferred destination for international scientific associations.
Some 60,000 to 80,000 overnight stays are estimated for the congress, which is to take place at IFEMA, an affiliate body to the Madrid Convention Bureau (MCB). Its economic impact on Madrid will be big, possibly exceeding €50 million, if we bear in mind the organisation’s expenses and the money that participants will be spending. Madrid is the chosen venue for this congress thanks to the bid presented by the MCB.IFEMA's international capacity to hold big professional events is enhanced. FAVOURABLE RESULTS REGARDING CONGRESS ACTIVITY AT IFEMA DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR 2010
A total of 45 fairs, congresses and events of all kinds brought together a total of 1,425 participating companies and some 283,000 visitors.
The level of activity under the heading of IFEMA CONVENTIONS AND CONGRESSES during the first half or the year 2010 was highly positive, based on the corresponding participation figures. In effect, a total of 45 events were recorded up until last May, including externally organised fairs, congresses and activities of all kinds. These events featured the participation of a total of 1,425 companies and welcomed some 283,000 visitors.
