IFEMA is working with animal protection organisations and institutions to promote health, care, wellbeing and responsible pet ownership at the 8th 100x100 MASCOTA 2018 Show, which will take place on 28 and 29 April 2018 in Halls 12 and 14 at Feria de Madrid. The fair has been moved to a new spot, one month earlier than its usual dates, to May, which will become its regular appointment until 2020, when it will host the World Dog Show, which it was appointed to organise by the Spanish Royal Canine Society (Real Sociedad Canina de España-RSCE), at the General Assembly of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (F.C.I.) in Milan in June, in which 15,000 of more than 300 different breeds took part.

Right from the start 100x100 MASCOTA has been the largest public pet-themed show in Spain. In May 2017, the fair registered 116 companies and 65 animal protection organisations, and welcomed 27,286 visitors - 4.2% more than the previous year - and more than 5,000 pets took part in the different activities.

The pet sector is represented at 100x100 MASCOTA by pet shops and services, dog grooming parlours, animal rescue and protection organisations; animal shelters, cattery and kennel businesses, breeders, trainers, training and obedience centres, clubs, veterinarians, hospitals, carriers, service companies, hotels and rural guest houses, farm schools and official bodies and institutions.

100x100 MASCOTA features spaces for taking part in activities where pets are the stars, through competitions, workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions and other activities, cats, dogs, donkeys, rabbits and other pets and which give people a better understanding of these pets, how to look after them, and what they need to be happy and healthy.

The show will host the following vents: The International Spring Dog Show of the Spanish Royal Canine Society (Real Sociedad Canina de España-RSCE) - H.M. The King's Trophy; beauty exhibitions; competitions; grooming demonstrations; fashion and accessories shows; exhibitions of breeds; a photography competition; health and animal care workshops, and training courses and demonstrations.

One particularly important area at the show is Madrid 100x100 Adopta. In the wake of the success of three earlier editions, Pasarela Madrid 100x100 Adopta will allow around 50 participating animal protection organisations to show off the animals they have awaiting adoption in their care.  100x100 Adopta is organised in collaboration with the Federation of Associations for the Protection and Defence of Animals, FAPAM, which also coordinates participation of the animal protection organisations present, helping them to show the   public the work they do and show animals that are candidates for adoption at their centres. 100X100 Adopta encourages pet adoption and responsible ownership, and is Sponsored by IFEMA, the Madrid Regional Government, AMVAC, COLVEMA and Madrid City Council.

Numerous companies, bodies and institutions help to make 100x100 MASCOTA a success, both from a commercial point of view, and in terms of its parallel activities. As well as the participation of leading sector firms and the exhibition's main sponsor, Arion, it is also sponsored by Bayer, Royal Canin and Artero.

Once again, collaborating companies will organise special activities, such as those carried out by the Madrid Association of Pet Veterinarians (AMVAC), and the Official Association of Veterinarians of Madrid: “The Committed Veterinarians”; and the aforementioned FAPAM,  the Spanish Association of Dwarf Rabbit Breeders, AECCE;  the Spanish Association of Family Rabbit Breeders, ASNAC; the Spanish Association Guinea Pig Breeders, AECCOR; the Friends of the Donkey Association; the ProCan Ayuda School, and Roncescan – Service Dogs, among others.
