On 27 and 28 May, 100X100 Mascota, the Madrid Pet Fair, Spain's leading showcase for pet products and services, open to the public, will be back at IFEMA. The show will feature an area where people can learn more about pets, their needs and how to care for them, as well as enjoying activities designed just for them.
Once again, 100x100 Mascota will have numerous features that will make it an unmissable visit for lovers of pets, large and small, and the ideal place to have fun, surrounded by different animals, as well as an opportunity to discover and purchase products and services from around 120 participating firms. The trade fair will be in a new spot at IFEMA, in Halls 12 and 14.
100x100 Mascota will include a great line-up of competitions, workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, workshops, and numerous activities involving dogs, cats, donkeys, rabbits and other pets.
When it comes to dogs, this event will include several activities organised by the Spanish Royal Canine Society (RSCE), the 89th Spring International Dog Show, H.M. The King's Trophy; the 27th Spanish Agility Championship; the 9th Spanish RSCE Obedience Cup for dogs; large European and American dog breed competitions, and the competition to choose a young presenter to represent the RSCE at the World Exhibition in Leipzig (Germany) 2017. What’s more, this year will see the launch of the education ring, with dog therapy exhibitions. More than 5,000 dogs will take part in all these activities.
The 2017 edition of 100x100 Mascota will feature the Madrid 100x100 Adopta area. An area where more than 50 animal protection organisations will offer information about how to adopt a pet as an alternative to buying one. This area is sponsored by the Community of Madrid, the Committed Vets (Madrid Veterinary Association and the Madrid Association of Pet Veterinarians), IFEMA and will be coordinated by FAPAM (Federation of Associations for the Protection and Defence of Animals) and IFEMA, in collaboration with Madrid City Council.
The purpose of this initiative is to encourage people to adopt abandoned animals and foster responsible pet ownership and animal wellbeing. The space will also host the “Madrid 100x100 Adopta Catwalk Show”, organised in coordination with FAPAM, in which different animal protection organisations will take part to raise awareness of their work and show off the animals available for adoption at their centres.
As well as dog-themed activities, 100x100 Mascota 2017 will feature other exhibitions and shows with other animals. When it comes to cats, 100x100Gato will be a space for meeting different cats up for adoption, organised by Gatoteca, as well as an exhibition of different breeds presented by their breeders.
The exhibition will also host exhibitions of dwarf and fantasy rabbits organised by the Spanish Association of Dwarf Rabbit Breeders (AECCE) and the Spanish Association of Family Rabbits (Asnac), as well as an exhibition of guinea pigs organised by the Spanish Association of Guinea Pig Breeders (AECCOR).
An illustrator has created this edition’s poster
Graphic designer and multidisciplinary illustrator Miguel Cerro, who specialises in illustrated albums, posters, and advertising, is the talent behind the promotional poster for the upcoming edition of 100x100 Mascota, an initiative by IFEMA organised in collaboration with APIM, the Madrid Professional Illustrators Association.
Illustrator Miguel Cerro works on advertising campaigns of all types. He also writes and illustrates books, and he has designed the covers of different types of books. He has received numerous prizes and selections.
The exhibition wanted to use an illustration to raise awareness of the painstaking work done by illustrators, such as the image of 100X100 Mascota 2017. The result is a charming illustration, that shows different pets, wearing crowns, who are cheerful, happy inhabitants of the city of Madrid.
100x100 Mascota, organised by IFEMA, will take place on 27 and 28 May from 9.30 to 20.00. The price of a general ticket is 9 euros and a family pack for two adults and two children costs €26.
